Trains

Hop on a train and pay less with your b_line card. Make sure you're up-to-date on all the rules.

USE A MAIN TRAIN COMPANY

You can use your b_line card to get cheap train fare, so long as you use one of the main train companies - CrossCountry Trains, East Midlands Trains and Northern Rail.

GO DIRECT

If you're travelling outside of Derbyshire you need to use a direct train.

For example you can get a train from Chesterfield to Meadowhall but you can't jump off in Sheffield city centre and then get a train from there. If you do, you'll have to pay full fare between Sheffield and Meadowhall.

There is one exception though.

You can hop on and off at any of these stations between Worksop and Nottingham on the Robin Hood line: Worksop, Whitwell,Creswell, Langwith, Shirebrook, Mansfield, Sutton Parkway, Kirkby in Ashfield, Newstead, Hucknall, Bulwell and Nottingham.

TRAVEL FURTHER

Like on buses, you can get cheap train fare to travel to some places outside Derbyshire:

Attenborough, Beeston, Bulwell, Burton upon Trent, Hazel Grove, Hucknall, Kirkby in Ashfield, Manchester (Piccadilly), Mansfield, Meadowhall, Newstead, Nottingham, Sheffield, Stockport, Sutton Parkway, Tutbury and Hatton, Uttoxeter, Worksop.

And also these rail stations between Derbyshire and Manchester:

Ardwick, Ashburys, Gorton, Fairfield, Guide Bridge, Hyde North, Hyde Central, Woodley, Belle Vue, Reddish North, Brinnington, Bredbury, Romiley, Marple, Levenshulme, Heaton Chapel, Davenport, Broadbottom, Middlewood, Disley.

BUYING TRAIN TICKETS

If the train station doesn't have a ticket office or if it is closed, you can use your b_line card to buy a ticket in the train. But if you can buy a ticket at a ticket office, you need get one before you get on the train or you might end up paying full fare. Our advice, get there early so you have plenty of time to work out the ticket situation.

HOW MUCH?

If you are under 16, you can get a child fare on all trains.

If you have a b_line 2 card, you will get up to 25 per cent off adult fares with your b_line card.
