Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who have something to say can access a variety of young people's groups through the local offer.
Derbyshire Youth Council
Young people with SEND are elected through their schools or sit on the designated seat for SEND young people via nomination from schools and colleges. Derbyshire Youth Council holds local youth meetings six times a year. The meetings are designed so that you can go along and chat about anything that's happening in your area that you're not happy with or have an idea on how to improve.
To find out about your youth forum, when and where it meets, and how you can get involved or if you require support to access, please email: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 01629 535787. Tell us where you live so we can make sure you find out about the right forum. There are youth forums in:
- Derbyshire Dales / High Peak
- Amber Valley
- North East Derbyshire / Bolsover
- South Derbyshire
Special Educational Needs and Disability Worker
We have a worker for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The worker will support you to have a voice in the services you receive.
"You Said we did"
Derbyshire County Council will be listening to what you have to tell us. We will let you know what we have done with this information in different ways suitable to you.
School Youth Forums - "Your voice will be heard?"
Your school may hold meetings that you can go along to. Here you can express your views or listen to other people's views on changes to your education and local area.
Our SEND worker can visit your school at the same time as your school meeting, The worker will be given a time slot that is agreed with your teacher. This is your chance to make your voice heard. The information you give us will be passed onto the staff at Derbyshire County Council. This will help them to look at and improve their services. We would love to hear what you have to say! Please email: email@example.com or tel: 01629 535787.
So if you feel as an individual or a group that "you have something to say" on what's working? What's not working? What needs to change?
